The Southwood Lady Knights ran into a hot North Miami team Wednesday, falling to the Warriors 11-4.
North Miami would come out swinging in the top of the first when Bailey Keim led off with a double. With one out Hannah Hall would reach on an error with Keim scoring for a 1-0 lead. MaryAnn Freeman would follow with a double to chase home Hall to lead 2-0. Tinney would then draw a walk before Ashley Lackman singled home both runners for a 4-0 lead. The Knights would get one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. With one out Turner would be hit by a pitch before a Pace walk. Thomas would then single home Turner to make it 4-1.
In the third Freeman would lead off with a walk before a Lackman one out single put runners on first and second. Miller would then walk to load the bases before a ground out scored Freeman to make it 5-1. Southwood would plate a run in the bottom of the inning when Pace hit a two out single and scored on a Thomas double
The fifth would be big for the Warriors. With one out Lackman would walk before Miller reached on a fielders choice. Smith would then lay down a bunt and reach on an error with courtesy runner Laycock scoring to make it 6-2. Pinch runner See would follow scoring on a wild pitch as the lead grew to 7-2. A Keim ground out chased home Smith before a Hartman single made it 9-2.
The Knights would plate 2 runs in the sixth. Keagan Simpson would lead off with a double before Kayla Mays reached on an error with Simpson scoring. With two outs Adams would single home Mays to make it 9-4.
North Miami would tack on two runs in the seventh. Laycock would single before a Halterman one out single made it 10-4. A Hall single would put runners on the corners before a Freeman fly out scored Halterman for the 11-4 score.
