The Northfield Norsemen scored the first two and last two innings Wednesday to defeat Peru 6-3.
The Norse would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. With one out Chance Hartman would single. With two outs Matt Coe drew a walk before Nate Drancik reached on an error with Hartman scoring. Peru would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Duante Majors would be hit by a pitch before a Blake Edwards triple made it 1-1. Nathna Brimbury would follow with a single to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
The Norse would tie the game in the second. Braden Ripplinger would lead off with a single before being sacrificed to second by Jarrett Shafer. Cole Rosen would then single home Ripplinger to make it 2-2.
In the sixth Shafer would lead off with a walk and was forced out at second on a Rosen bunt. Rosen would take second on an error before a Clayton Tomlinson single gave the Norse a 3-2 lead. With two outs Blake Harner would single home Tomlinson for a 4-2 lead. Coe would follow with a walk before a Drancik single scored Burnworth for a 5-2 score. Peru would get a run back in the bottom of the inning when Lucas McConahay was hit by a pitch. McConahay would take second on a passed ball before advancing to third on a ground out. Robert Cunningham would then ground out to short with McConahay scoring to make it 5-3.
Northfield would tack on a run in the seventh. Ripplinger would lead off drawing a walk before being sacrificed to second by Shafer. With two outs Tomlinson would single home the run to make it 6-3.
