Senior second baseman Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind.) added to an already full cadre of post-season honors Wednesday, May 16, by being named first-team all-Central Region for NCAA Division III by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Already the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Most Valuable Player and Manchester University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Female Athlete of the Year and the senior class female Outstanding Athlete of the Year along with being the program’s Most Valuable Player, she was one of eight HCAC athletes named to the top three Central Region squads. Ladwig and Transylvania University pitcher Renae Morton represented the league on the first team and now advance to the ballot for All-American consideration.
The senior concluded the 2018 campaign as the national leader in total (19) and home runs per game (.5) while being listed among the top 10 in total bases (120 – No. 10) and slugging percentage (1.026 – No. 3).
