The Manchester Lady Squires opened sectional play Tuesday, taking an early lead on Lewis Cass before falling to the Lady Kings 4-2.
Manchester would grab the lead in the top of the first when Mackenzie Day drew a two out walk and scored on a Kiera Stacy double for a 1-0 lead.
In the second the Squires would weather a series of questionable calls, giving up just one run to tie the score, then get out of another jam in the fourth.
Cass would take advantage of two errors, to walk and two hits in the fifth to plate 3 runs for a 4-1 lead and held that score until the top of the sixth.With one out Mackenzie Day would double and score on a Stacy single to make it 4-2. A sac bunt and a ground out ended the threat.
The Squires had one more shot in the seventh with three pop ups ending the game.
