The Wabash cross country teams ran in the Marion Invite Saturday with the varsity boys winning the Red division.
The Wabash High School boys cross country team won the red division of the Marion beating 14 other schools in the process. Led by overall race winner Dereck Vogel the Apaches put 7 in the top 20. Zack Reed finished 3rd, Koby Prater 5th, Blakley Cole 9th, Aaron Nickerson 17th, Jarrett Wilson 18th, Caleb Callahan 20th. Freshman Ethan Kocher ran a much improved race and finished 29th. Ben Hewitt and Ethan Berry also ran lifetime PR’s in the race.
The Wabash HS girls took a trip to Marion to compete in one of the largest invitationals on September 1st. The Lady Apaches competed in the Red Race, giving them the advantage to run against schools similar in size.
Each of the Lady Apaches came in with a season best time while competing with 84 athletes in the invitational. Senior, Whitney Working, medaled after placing 14th with a time of 22:29. Next came Sophomore, Sierra Hall, placing 53rd with a time of 26:03. Junior, Camille Kugler came in 68th with a season best and personal best time of 27:53.
Despite the heat followed by a lightening delay, the junior high Lady Apaches came back to the course and gave it their all in a race that hosted 259 runners. 8th grader, Grace La Mar came in first for the team running a time of 16:09 as a season pr and taking 140th place. Ivy Beamer, a 5th grader, came in next for the middle school girls with a season best time of 17:08 and placing 174th. Ava Bishir, another 5th grader, came in with a season best at 17:20 and took 179th place. Maya Howard came in with a time of 18:55 and placing 216th.
The Wabash Middle School boys cross country team finished 6th out of 21 teams in the Marion Invitational Saturday. The top finisher for the Apaches was Dave Ford who finished 9th out of the 356 runner field. PR’s were achieved by Coleson Kugler, Drew Guenin-Hodson, Logan Osborn, Colton Lindsey, Kristian Stanton, Trey Thrush, and Eli Callahan.
Wabash will travel to Hartford City to the Blackford Invitational next Saturday.
