Individual top 75s headline MU in fall opener

LEXINGTON, KY. – In most cases, the Is have it for positive outcomes.

For Manchester University at Transylvania University’s Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2, it was the Cs that paced head coach Tara Boone’s Spartans. Senior Connor Labedz (Aurora, Ill.) fired a 239 over the 54 holes at the University Club which included a sparkling 77 in the Sunday’s last 18 to place 71st, and sophomore Cody Loucks (Goshen, Ind.) had three steady efforts in the low 80s en route to a 246 that put him in a tie for 75th.

The team’s 1001-stroke total wound up 17th. A top-flight field of some of the best programs in NCAA Division III was on hand with Wittenberg University of Ohio winning the title (856).

Boone’s crew resumes a busy fall slate Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, at the Bluffton University meet.
