HARRISON, OHIO – Battling through weather issues throughout the weekend along with the remainder of the eight-team field at Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio’s Stateline Shootout Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2, Manchester University began its fall schedule with strong footing.
Head coach Tara Boone’s squad carded a 362 at the Miami-Whitewater Forest Golf Course Sunday after inclement weather dashed Saturday’s first round. Sophomores Kaitlyn Cook (Monticello, Ind.) and Taylor Erfman (Brookville, Ind.) topped the Black and Gold’s individual marks over the 18 holes, as Cook carded an 84 and Erfman finished with an 86. Cook’s score left her tied for fourth, and Erfman’s total placed her in a tie for ninth.
MU nearly found itself two spots higher. Oakland City University was third (356), and St. Mary-of-the-Wood took fourth (361) following Ohio Wesleyan University and the host Lions going 340-344 for first and second.
The Spartans return to the course Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9, for the Defiance College Fall Invitational.
