Home slate begins midweek

Manchester University begins a run of five of its next seven contests occurring against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association competition Wednesday, September 5.

Spartan Shorts: Even in the midst of senior goalkeeper Caroline Smith (Mason, Ohio)compiling her eighth career double-digit save total, Huntington University managed a massive first attack to upend MU this past weekend. Smith repelled 11 Forester on frame tries, but the home sides’ wave at the visiting defense managed to produce a string of five goals in the opening 25 minutes at King Stadium. The remaining 65 minutes saw head coach Christine Johnson’s crew surrender only two home scores as part of a 7-0 defeat … On the offensive side of the 2018 season starter, junior midfielder/forward Katie Green(Chesterton, Ind.) and freshman forward Jayden Murray (Delphi, Ind.) both got attempts near the home net. However, in each case, Foresters’ netminder Danielle Dehner kept the home clean sheet intact … MU resumes a home-and-away set this week, traveling to Rochester College of Michigan for a 5 p.m. start Saturday, September 8.
