Doubles decision tops MU

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Senior Connor Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) and sophomore Isaac Miller (Goshen, Ind.) picked up where they left off from the 2017-18 campaign Monday, Sept. 10.

The doubles pairing, which finished with six victories in 10 tries a year ago, stepped on to its home outdoors against in-state NCAA Division III non-conference rival Trine University with reliable results. Eichenauer and Miller topped the Thunder’s top duo of Blake and Evan Trusty 8-4.

While their decision marked the lone team point for the Manchester University’s men’s team in its fall starter, there were also positive signs for interim head coach Dr. Wendy Hoffman’s side. Miller pushed Trine number two singles player Jacob Weiss to a superbreaker falling 4-6, 7-5, 7-10, and the freshman tandem of Bailey Buhrt (Warsaw, Ind.) and Samuel Hollingsworth (New Castle, Ind.) picked up four game wins at the number two slot.
