The Metro Rage hosted the Tippecanoe County Tornados Soccer Club for a double header at the Morrett Sports Complex on Thursday night. The junior high had the field for the first game of the evening. Conner Webb (SW) found the back of the net 2 minutes into the game to give the Rage an early lead. The Rage would get the second goal of the night when a Tornado defender put the ball in their own net due to pressure from Cash Cartwright (NF), Jon Treska (NF) and Eli Kroh (NF) who were all fighting for a loose ball inside the Tornado’s six yard box.
The Rage would keep the 2-0 lead until a late goal by the Tornado’s made the final score 2-1. The Rage move their record to 6-2-1 on the season.
The Rage high school team got off to a quick start with multiple shots on goal early in the game. Midfielder Trent Osborn (NF So) scored the first of his three goals at the 16 minute mark on a low driven ball from the top of the 18 yard box. Osborn would score again a few minutes later on a through ball assist from Logan Peas (NF Sr). Osborne found Conner Webb (SW 8th) all alone on the wing a minute before halftime to give the Rage a 3-0 lead.
Osborn showed no signs of cooling off at halftime as he scored the third goal of the evening on a left footed volley on an assist from Lamoine Silver (SW Sr). The Rage earned a penalty kick 6 minutes into the second half with a hand ball in the box. Rage senior defender Luke Winer (SW) converted the PK to make the score 4-0. At the 62 minute mark, Silvers sent a perfectly lofted ball to the back post on a corner kick that Rage Senior Defender Dustin Hamilton (SW) slotted just out of the keeper’s reach.
