The Manchester Lady Squires traveled to Rochester Monday, winning game one before falling to the Zebras 27-25, 18-25, 20-25, 18-25.
Kennidy Lauer and Anna Osborne got the Lady Squires started in the right direction in game one, both recording kills as Manchester led 13-12. Each team would have numerous leads with the Squires having their backs to the wall trailing 22-24. Eva Bazzoni would then record a kill, followed by a Lauer block to tie the score. Rochester led 24-25 when Andrea Kahn hit back to back kills, followed by a Zebra error to give Manchester game one 27-25.
Rochester would jump out to a 9-3 lead to start game two. Manchester would then start to find Kahn and Osborne, chipping away to cut the deficit to 9-13. Rochester would then find a second wind, scoring 7 of the next 10 points to lead 12-20 when Lauer and Kahn started a block party at the net, slicing the Zebras lead to 16-20. Rochester would find their hitters down the stretch to take game two 18-25.
In game three the Squires would find Bazzoni early and played nearly even with the Zebras, trailing 9-10 when Rochester scored four of the next five to lead 14-10. Manchester would then find Mackenzie Day, who smoked three kills that ignited a 6-1 run to give Manchester a 16-15 lead. The game was tied at 19 when Rochester scored four straight and 6 of the final 7 points to take game three 20-25.
Game four was all Rochester early as they raced out to a 14-7 lead and built their lead to 9-20 when Manchester found a second wind. A kill from Bazzoni and a tip from Osborne cut the deficit to 14-23. Trailing 14-24 Osborne and Lauer would both get two kills to make it 18-24 before Rochester ended the night with a kill, 18-25.
