The Knight Harriers competed in the New Haven Classic Saturday morning at PFW. The cooler temperature that ushered in the Fall Season lent itself to prime conditions for the Knights to run away with potentially exceptional performances.
Competing in the Division A race, Cayden Prickett led the Knights setting a new PR of 18:22. Landon Topliff ran number 2 for the Knights with a Season Best time of 19:47. Caron Kelley was on Landon’s heels, also finishing with a Season Best time of 19:50. Rounding out scoring for the Knights were Jacob Marlow and Brayden Smith, both setting PR’s at 20:07 and 20:11. Liam McGouldrick and Wesley Nelson were the Knights’ 6th and 7th man, covering the course in 20:27 and 20:30. Weslee improved his time by almost 2 minutes. Also competing for the Knights were Ben Roudebush who ran a Season Best time of 20:50 and Skylar Amos who improved his previous best time by more than 2 minutes, running a time of 22:59.
Braden Sweet competed in the Division AAA race, which consisted of a field of 166 of some of the top runners in the state. In a gruelingly fast paced race, Braden placed 19th overall setting a new PR of 16:27. The Knights showed themselves ready for the approaching completion of the cross country season as they close out the regular season next Saturday at Tipp Valley for RRC and then move into Sectionals the following week.
Monica Hobson continued as the lone Lady Knight representing Southwood in the women’s Division A race at the New Haven Classic on Saturday. Monica ran her best race of the season, finishing the course in time of 24:20.
