The Northfield Norsemen were at home against Maconaquah Friday, giving the much larger Braves all they wanted for two quarter before falling 37-20.
After a scoreless first quarter things would start to heat up on the windy night. Maconaquah would get on the board first when Carter Little scored from 14yds out with 11:54 left to take an 8-0 lead. Northfield had a quick response when Cole Rosen took the kick off up the middle before cutting back to the right and racing 90yds to pay dirt, making it 8-7. The Norse defense would then stop the Braves before marching down the field with Levi Fulkerson scoring on a quarterback sneak, giving Northfield a 13-8 lead. With just 1:26 on the clock Maconaquah quarterback Nolan Kelly would throw a rare pass, hooking up with Little from 58yds out to give the Braves a 15-13 halftime lead.
The third quarter would be full of mistakes for the Norse. After a fumble on their own 4yl that Maconaquah recovered, Little would score again as the Braves lead grew to 22-13. On the next Northfield possession the Braves would force a fumble with Cole Winiger picking it up and out running the Norse to the end zone for a 30-13 lead. After stopping the Norse the Braves would go again, this time on a 25yd reception to Jared Blake as the lead grew to 37-13.
Northfield would score the lone points of the fourth quarter when Jarrett Shafer scored from a yard out for the 37-20 final.
