MU men’s basketball names top assistant

Head men’s basketball coach Gerad Good recently announced the hiring of Ricardo Johnson as an assistant coach for the program.

Before arriving in North Manchester, he was a graduate assistant at NCAA Division I Xavier University from June 2016 through May 2018 where he played an important role in the player and team development for the Musketeers who were Big East Conference regular season champions and reached the NCAA tournament Elite Eight during his time there. Before his Xavier stint, Johnson was an assistant coach at Panola Junior College in Carthage, Texas, an Amateur Athletic Union Kentucky Select 17U boys’ coach and the freshman boys’ head coach at Holmes High School in Covington, Ky. Johnson’s basketball knowledge doesn’t end with his coaching background, as he was also a student-athlete at Division I Ohio University from June 2010-May 2014.

Johnson received a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Ohio in Communications in May 2014. He also completed a Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Zavier in May 2018.
