The Southwood football season came to an end Friday in the sectional championship at Adams Central, falling to the Flying Jets 38-0.
The tone of the night was set right from the start when the Knights went three and out on their first possession. Adams Central would respond with a 65 yard touchdown run on their first play to lead 7-0. Again the Southwood offense would have trouble moving the ball before giving it up. The Flying Jets would capitalize, scoring from a yard out with 4:16 left in the first for a 14-0 lead. The Knights defense, which had been superb the entire season did manage to force a fumble on the Flying Jets third possession with Connor Rich recovering.
Down 14-0 to start the second quarter, Adams Central would start the beginning stages of putting the game away when they picked off Alex Farr and raced 80yds to lead 21-0. A field goal and a 47yd pass play would make it 31-0 at the half.
After giving up 31 points in the first half the Knights defense would tighten their belts in the second half, giving up one score for the 38-0 final.
