Norse/Knights Split Double Header

It was the first meeting of the season for the Northfield and Southwood boys and girls in a double header at Northfield Friday. The Lady Norse would top the Knights 77-19 before the Southwood boys reversed the table in game two with an 80-31 win over the Norse.

The girls game started with Northfield scoring the first 10 points of the game. Addi Baker would get the first bucket with Kyra Kennedy chipping in two. Kelcie Thomson would add a bucket while Ariel Dale drained a three. Kayla Mays would stop the run with a bucket before the Norse went running again, scoring the next 7. Dale would lead the way in the quarter with 11 points while Kennedy added 8. Northfield led 26-4 after the first stop.

Things would go much better for the Knights in the second quarter as they managed just two points while the Norse applied heavy full court pressure. Shuffling players in  and out quickly the Norse would have six players get on the scoreboard in the quarter as the lead grew to 43-6 at the half.

Thomson would start the scoring in the third quarter ass Northfield scored the first 7 points before Morgan Farr and Alissa Pershing hit back to back buckets to make it 50-11. Emma Hoover and MaKenna Pace would then trade three pointers as the Norse led 57-14 after three.

Abbey Ross would score first in the fourth quarter as the Norse out scored the Knights 20-5 in the quarter for the 77-19 final

Northfield scoring : Ross 6, Dale 21, Keaffaber 2, Thomson 10, Clark 1, Kennedy 15, Beery 2, Baker 6, Hoover 7, Stout 6, Leming 1.

Southwood scoring : Pace 3, Pershing 5, Farr 4, Mays 2, Ball 1, Barney 1, Wyatt 3.

In the nightcap the Southwood boys would jump out to an 11-0 lead with Dallas Holmes hitting three long balls. Logan Peas stopped the run before the Knights took off again, scoring 8 straight. The Knights would end the quarter on  an 8-0 run to lead 27-3. Holmes had 13 in the quarter.

The Norse found a little rhythm early in the second, getting buckets from Clayton Tomlinson and Peas before Carson Rich and Jackson Simons caught fire. Rich would score 7 points in the quarter with Simons adding 6 as the Knights built a 48-19 halftime lead.

Nate Drancik would get the first bucket of the third quarter before a Gabe Lloyd three and buckets from Rich and Braden Barney made it 43-13. Dallas Holmes would cap off the 8-0 run with a dunk. Cole Rosen stopped the run before the Knights scored 11 straight and led 67-25 after three.

Alex Farr would drain a three to start the fourth quarter and was followed by a Quentin Perry bucket as the Knights out scored the Norse 13-6 in the final quarter for the 80-31 final.

Northfield Scoring : Tomlinson 4, L. Peas 14, J. Peas 2, Drancik 5, Rosen 2, Holes 2, Long 2
