Indiana Christian Academy (ICA) from Anderson came to Wabash to battle Emmanuel on Friday.
The Emmanuel JV team came on top with a score of 51-35. Freshman, Jack Niccum, led the Eagles with 18 points. Riley Miler brought 10 and Preston Ritzema supported with 9 points.
The Varsity Eagles won their game as well with a final score of 57-50. Davis Coyne had 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ariston Trusty helped Coyne on the scoreboard with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Emmanuel will host Grace Baptist from Plymouth on Tuesday, February 21, at 5:30.
Emmanuel traveled to Anderson on Tuesday to battle the Indiana Christian Academy Whirlwinds. The Junior varsity team came out on top with a score of 32-21. Freshman, Jack Niccum led the team with 11 points. J.C. Frank assisted with 8.
The varsity Eagles took their intense game into overtime and came out on top with a score of 37-32. Ariston Trusty highlighted the scoreboard with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 steals. Davis Coyne assisted the team with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
The Eagles will host the ICA Whirlwinds on Friday.
The Emmanuel Eagles had a busy week of basketball this past week. They traveled to Bluffton and faced the Wells Association of Christian Home Educators (WACHE). The Junior Varsity won their battle with Freshman, Preston Ritzema, leading the scoreboard with 13 points. J.C. Frank helped with 10 points and Jack Niccum brought 9. The Emmanuel Varsity team fell to WACHE. Sophomore, Ariston Trusy, led the Eagles with 23 points and 3 rebounds.
Cornerstone Baptist Academy traveled to Wabash on Thursday. Davis Coyne again led his team to the victory with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 steals. Ariston Trusy was second in command with 9 points to add to the scoreboard and 9 rebounds.
Emmanuel travels to Anderson this week to face Indiana Christian Acadamy (ICA), on Tuesday.
The Emmanuel Eagles dominated their home tournament on Saturday at ECS. They started the morning facing Grace Baptist from Plymouth. Emmanuel dominated and came out on top. Freshman, Jack Niccum, led the scoreboard with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Levi Hinds, Jaxton Coyne, Brogan Templin, and J.C. Frank all assisted the win with 6 points each.
Emmanuel faced New Heights Baptist in the Championship game. The Eagles once again soared to the win with a score of 69-54. Davis Coyne led his team with 34 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ben Holbrook brought 13 points and Ariston Trusty assisted the Eagles with 12 points.
Davis Coyne, Levi Hinds, and Ariston Trusty made the All Tourney team at the tournament. The MVP was awarded to Davis Coyne of Emmanuel.
Emmanuel traveled to Spiece Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, Tuesday night to face New Heights Baptist School. The Junior Varsity team fell to New Heights by one point. The final score was 30-29. Seventh grader, Brogan Templin, led the JV team with 8 points. Freshman, J.C. Frank assisted the team with 6 points as did Collin Gouvan.
The Varsity Eagles came out victorious on Tuesday night against New Heights. The final score of the game was 71-38. Davis Coyne led the Eagles with 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 steals. Ariston Trusty, a Junior, helped the Eagles soar to victory by adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ben Holbrook was able to assist his team with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Emmanuel will host a tournament on Saturday, at ECS, starting at 9:00 a.m. Four schools will be participating in this tournament. We invite the community to come out and support ECS. Concessions will be available during this event as well.
Emmanuel traveled to their rival school on Friday in Harlan, Indiana. The Junior Varsity Eagles lost their battle with a score of 44-39. Freshman, Jack Niccum, brought 13 points to the floor. Eighth grader, Jaxton Coyne, scored 8 while seventh grader, Riley Miller, popped up 7 points for the team.
In an exciting varsity match, the Eagles again fell short against Harlan with the score of 88-79. Davis Coyne led his Emmanuel team with 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Ariston Trusty was able to help with 23 points and 8 rebounds.
On January 31, Emmanuel will travel to New Heights Baptist Academy in Fort Wayne.
The Emmanuel Eagles were able to celebrate a victory at home on Tuesday, against Pierceton Woods Academy with a score of 51-45.
Davis Coyne led his team in points with a total of 27. He also brought 11 rebounds and 5 assists to the court that night. Ariston Trusty, a junior, shot and made 11 points and 6 rebounds. Ben Holbrook helped his team by bringing in 6 points.
The JV and Varsity teams will travel to Harlan Christian School on Friday, January 20.
With a score of 34-22, Emmanuel Eagles Junior High team lost against the Kokomo Redeemers on Friday, January 13. Seventh grader, Brogan Templin, was the lead scorer for the Eagles with 9 points. Jaxton Coyne, an 8th grader, helped with 8 points and Riley Miller shot 5 points to complete the score for Emmanuel.
Emmanuel’s Varsity team will play Pierceton Woods Academy on Tuesday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Emmanuel. The JV and Varsity will travel to Harlan Christian School on Friday, January 20.
The Emmanuel Eagles fought a tough battle against the Whites Warriors on Tuesday. Emmanuel lost with a score of 65-48. Junior, Davis Coyne, led the battle with 18 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 steals. Junior, Jon Napier, assisted the team with 12 points. Ben Holbrook also helped the team by adding 9 points and 4 rebounds.
The Junior High Eagles play this Friday, the 13th, at Kokomo Redeemer Lutheran School.
Tuesday, December 13, Emmanuel hosted W.A.C.H.E. (Wells Association of Christian Home Educators) and fell to the W.A.C.H.E. Warriors.
Emmanuel’s Varsity lost to W.A.C.H.E. with a score of 81-53. Junior, Ariston Trusty, led the Eagles with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Davis Coyne was able to sink 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Emmanuel’s Junior High team was able to pull out on top with a score of 35-25. Seventh grader, Riley Miller, downed 11 points and Freshman, Preston Ritzema, helped with 9.
Emmanuel played New Heights Baptist Academy on Friday, December 9. Emmanuel was able to come out on top with a close score of 75-71. Junior, Ben Holbrook, carried the Eagles with 27 points. Davis Coyne, also a Junior, brought 25 more points, 15 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Emmanuel plays again in January. They will travel to Whites on Tuesday, January 10, at 6:00 p.m.
The Emmanuel Christian boys basketball team used a fourth quarter comeback Friday to defeat Harlan Christian 52- 48.
Emmanuel came out to start the game with a couple good buckets on offense and good defensive pressure. Harlan then got extremely hot, draining five three pointers that left Emmanuel trailing 21-8 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Emmanuel locked in defensively and held Harlan to nine points in the second quarter, with Harlan hitting a half court shot to end the half, taking them into the locker room with alot of momentum leading 30-16.
Emmanuel came out in the third quarter hitting a couple easy buckets that started to switch the momentum. Coach Joe Gouvan ” We just kept chipping away at their lead to end the third quarter them leading 43-36.”
The start of the fourth quarter Emmanuel kept the same intensity and kept chipping away, as they took a one point lead with two minutes to go. Weston Doyle iced the game making two free throws with 2 seconds left to give Emmauel a four point lead.
Gouvan ”The guys showed alot of heart and determination fighting from behind all game.”
Tyler Samuel led the Emmanuel scoring with 20 points. Kyle Smith chipped in 11 points. Weston Doyle had 13 points.
The Emmanuel Christian boys basketball team rallied in the second half Friday for a comeback 73-58 win over Kings Academy out of Marion.
It was a total team effort, the shots weren’t falling in the first half and Emmanuel was trailing 37-34 at the half. In the second half the defense picked up, creating alot of transistion baskets.
Coach Joe Gouvan ”The guys played smart, took high percentage shots.”
Emmanuel had 4 players with double figure scoring. Wesley Gaunt led with 21 points, Weston Doyle and Tyler Samuel had 15 each, Kyle Smith added 12.

Emmanuel Christian defeated White’s in volleyball action Tuesday night 25-10, 25-8, 25-9.
In game one, tied at 4 Emmanuel went on a 9-0 run behind the serving of Kallie Phillips to go up 13-4.
In game two, tied at 1 Emmanuel’s Koren Marsh served 5 aces to put them up 10-1
Game three was tight early with the scored tied three times before Emmanuel went up 7-6.
