The Wabash Lady Apaches played host to Mississinewa Friday, falling behind early and could never catch up in a 45-35 loss to the Indians.
Wabash would grab a 2-0 lead on a bucket from Tabby Wagner before the Indians answered with 11 straight points to lead 11-2 after the first stop.
Wabash would regroup at the time out and come out swinging, getting buckets from Alivia Short and a three from Hope Unger to cut the deficit to 11-9. Mississinewa would lead 13-12 when they hit twice for a 17-12 lead. Two Wagner free throws and a bucket from Short made it 17-16 before a 5-0 run from the Indians made it 22-16. The last bucket of the quarter came from Short as Wabash trailed 22-18 at the half.
Mississinewa would get the first bucket of the second half before a second Unger three made it 24-21. The Indians would then stretch their lead to 32-23 and led 34-26 after three.
Mississinewa would get their first double digit lead to start the fourth quarter when they led 38-26 before an Abby Vinopal bucket and another from Unger made it 38-30. Unger would hit another long ball in the quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Apaches fell to the Indians 45-35.
Alivia Short & Hope Unger paced Wabash in scoring with 15 and 11 points while Kiley Stone pulled down 4 rebounds and Abby Vinopal handed out 3 assists to lead the Lady Apaches.
The Wabash junior varsity fell to Mississinewa 27-20.
