Lady Norse Route Huntington
The Northfield Lady Norse had a score to settle with Huntington North Saturday and settling would be an understatement. Hosting the Vikings the Norse would score the first 9 points of the game in a 70-29 route over the 4A guest.
Addi Baker would get things going with a layup which would be a common thing in the game. Baker’s bucket was followed by a Kelcie Thomson two and a Kyra Kennedy three point play before Baker ended the 9-0 start with two free throws. Leading 9-4 Baker would hit again, followed by a Thomson three as the Norse led 14-4 after the first stop.
Not wanting a letdown after a good start the second quarter would be just the opposite. Kennedy and Kearston Stout would build the lead to 19-7 before a 10-0 run that was started by Emma Hoover increased the Norse lead to 29-8. The Norse defensive pressure was making life miserable for the Vikings as Huntington managed just two three pointers that were excuse me bank shots. Thomson would hit her second long ball of the half while senior teammate Ariel Dale scored four times. The Norse would put seven players in the scoring column in the quarter as the lead grew to 45-16 at the half.
Baker would get the first bucket of the third quarter as the Norse scored the first 7 points and were up 52-16. Up 54-20 Dale would join Thomson from behind the arch as the gas pedal was stuck to the floor. Dale, Kennedy and Baker each scored 4 points in the quarter as Thomson was threading the needle with passes. Northfield led 59-23 after three.
Huntington would score the first 4 points of the fourth quarter before the Norse went on an 11-0 run. Thomson would start the run with a free throw while Kennedy and Dale were on the receiving end of her passes for a 70-27 lead.
The Norse put four players in double figures and seven in the scoring column.
