Southwood Freshmen Pick Up First Win

The Southwood Knights freshman team picked up their first win of the season on Monday night, defeating Columbia City 24-22.

Defensive pressure forced the Eagles to take tough shots, shutting the visitors out in the opening quarter. The Knights were able to knock down some shots in the second frame, opening up a 10 point lead at the half. Columbia City responded by picking up their full court pressure to open the second half. Southwood showed some improvement handling the press. Missed free throws and a few ill-advised passes in the fourth quarter kept Columbia City in the game however. A half-court defensive stop fittingly closed the game out. Southwood took an important step tonight in learning how to win games instead of lose games.
