The Knights hosted their Freshman Invitation Saturday morning, dropping the first and winning the second.

In the first game the Knights played well in the first half and only trailed by 3 to an Eastern team that had beat them earlier in the week. Southwood played exceptionally well in the 3rd quarter, holding the Comets scoreless and opened up a 7 point lead with 6 minutes left. The Knights kept Eastern off the scoreboard until 3 minutes left in the 4th. However very careless play and foul trouble flipped the game in the final two minutes allowing Eastern to come back. Southwood ended up blowing a 10 point lead down the stretch, and the kids learned another tough lesson about how to play with a lead.

Koby Thomas – 9 pts
AJ Getz – 5 pts
Grant Whitham – 5 pts
Brayden Smith – 4 pts
Jacob Marlow – 3 pts
Jayden Timmons – 2 pts

In the consolation game against Peru the Knights won 42-20. The ball movement in the second game was much improved. Each player looked for the open man instead of putting the ball on the floor right away. This led to several wide open shots. In fact, there were several possessions where the Knights were able to get a good shot without ever taking a dribble against the Tiger zone. In addition to making open shots, the Southwood defense packed it in and was able to limit the dribble drive which frustrated Peru.

Jayden Timmons – 17 pts
Koby Thomas – 7 pts
AJ Getz – 6 pts
Brayden Smith – 6 pts
Grant Whitham – 4 pts
Blake Smith – 2 pts
