Lady Squires Ride Third Quarter Burst To Top Apaches

The Wabash and Manchester girls met Thursday after being snowed out last Saturday. Manchester led by just two points at the half before out scoring the Apaches 19-5 in the third quarter before winning 39-30.

Kennedy Fierstos would give the Lady Squires a 3-0 lead before two Hope Unger free throws. Bucket from Kennidy Lauer and Fierstos made it 8-2 before Alivia Short scored the last two points of the quarter with Manchester leading 8-5 after one.

Wabash would start the second quarter with an 8-0 run to grab a 13-8 lead. Short would hit three straight times before Mariah Wyatt finished the run off. Manchester would answer with a 7-0 run to end the quarter. Two buckets from Eva Bazzoni which included a three followed by a Fierstos bucket gave the Squires a 15-13 lead at the half.

Manchester would take control of the game in the third, starting the quarter on a 7-0 and scoring 18 of the first 20 points. Fierstos would start the scoring with Kiera Hatfield and Bazzoni chiming in. Bazzoni would lead the way with 9 points in the quarter which included two long balls. Trailing 33-15 Wyatt would hit a bucket and a free throw before Bazzoni ended the quarter with a free throw. Manchester led 34-18 after three.

Free throws from Short and Nici Gunderman would start the fourth before Bazzoni hit her fourth three of the night for a 37-20 lead. Manchester was leading 39-23 when the Apaches would make a run, scoring the last seven points of the game with the Squires holding on for the 39-30 win.
