Three Baker Home Runs Carries Lady Norse Past Knights

The Northfield Lady Norse got three home runs from Addy Baker, one being a grand slam plus a four hit pitching performance from Abby Hunter in a 12-1 sectional opening game win against Southwood at North Miami Monday.

Baker would set the tone, hitting the first pitch of the game over the center field fence for a 1-0 lead.

In the second Elise Gottschalk would start off the inning with a single before pinch runner Fayth Leming scored on a Bailey Burcroff single. Jenna Krom would follow with a single before Baker was walked to load the bases. Ally Keaffaber would follow with a single to score Burcroff for a 3-0 lead.

The Norse bats would continue to be hot in the third. With one out Faith Satterwaite would single and was followed by a Gottschalk single. Kenzie Baer would then single home Madison Shrider for a 4-0 lead. Burcroff would then hit an infield single to load the bases before Krom drew a walk to force home Leming to lead 5-0. Baker would then hit her second bomb of the game, a grand slam to increase the Norse lead to 9-0.

In the fifth Baker would hit a high shot over the right center fence before Keaffaber belted a double. Abby Hunter would draw a walk before a Shrider triple cleared the bases for a 12-0 lead. The Knights would threaten to extend the game in the bottom of the inning when Madi Turner and Erin McGouldrick singled with one out. With two outs Kassity Simpson would walk before Ashley Smith singled with Turner scoring and McGouldrick being thrown out at the plate for the final out.
