Wabash Boys Soccer Routes Valley
The Wabash Apache boys soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Three Rivers Conference with a win over Tippecanoe Valley on Tuesday night.
The match started with shaky play by the Wabash backline, as the Vikings peppered the goal. Tipp Valley were unlucky to not be up early, as two Viking shots caromed off the cross bar.
After the Apache backline settled in, the Viking offense sputtered and the Apaches quickly countered. Traydon Goodwin headed-in the first from a corner kick, while Mario Melendez scored off a beautiful free kick. Michael Cordes slotted home a wonderful cross from his younger brother, Paul Cordes, to put the Apaches up 3 at halftime.
Paul Cordes started off the second half with a goal from close range, as Wyatt Davis added to his goal count to make it 5-0. After Davis drew a penalty, Andrew Dinkins slotted home the spot kick. Freshman Jacob France scored his first career goal for the Apaches to make it 7-0. Seven different Apaches showed up on the scoresheet, while five different players got assists. The Apaches providing the service for the scorers included Paul Cordes, Wyatt Davis, Sol France, Braden Brooks, and Grant Carandante.
Grant Carandante and Greyson Deboard helped keep a clean sheet for the Apache victory while in goal. Wabash takes on conference powerhouse Manchester at home Thursday with a 5:30 kickoff.
