Knights Run Well At Marion

The Southwood varsity cross country teams competed at the Marion Invitational Saturday.

Throughout the day, there were 16 races and over 2000 runners. With the opportunity to face the best of the best in the state, Braden Sweet competed in the Elite Race. The competition featured team and individual state finalists. Braden’s performance proved that he belongs in the company of the elite runners as he pushed to finish 16th overall in a time of 16:13.

Running in the Boys Red Race were the rest of the Knight Harriers. Jacob Marlow led the pack finishing 28th in a time of 19:35. Nathan Lehner ran number 2 for the team, setting a new PR of 20:08 and placing 35th, taking the final medaling position. Also, of special note was Devin Danzy who moved up to scoring position by running as 4th man for the Knights, finishing 64th overall and setting a new PR of 21:49.

For the girls Aleia Sweet competed very well, finishing 7th overall in a field of 54 runners. Monica Hobson finished 15th overall and Mariah Brown finished 28th.
