Wabash Girls Soccer Wins Second Straight
The Wabash girls soccer team defeated Peru 5-0 Thursday.
he Apaches were able to lock down defensively and keep the Tiger’s offensive threats out of the back of the net – lead by goalkeeper Hannah Layne with 4 saves and incredible defensive efforts by Kalista Ballshmidt, Kiersten O’Neill, Morgan Mallow, Abbie Boggs, Kiana Jones and Linda Cordes.
Senior Nici Gunderman lead the Lady Apaches offense tonight with 3 goals and 5 more additional shots on goal. Senior Isabelle Davis and sophomore Rylee Yoakum also found the back of the net with a goal apiece. Yoakum continued to control the center of the field well for Wabash and distributed passes, crosses and corner kicks for offensive opportunities. Assists to the goals tonight came from senior Mallow and sophomore Libby Mattern. Sophomore Ashley Province, Codes, and senior Madi Lutz also contributed fantastic offensive minutes for the Apaches.
The Lady Apaches move to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Apaches next contest will host Mississinewa at home on Saturday.
