The Wabash girls soccer team defeated Marion for the first time in school history 4-1 Monday.

Wabash scored again in the 1st half when they were awarded a penalty kick and Rylee Yoakum put it away to the corner to lead 2-0. Shortly before half, the Giants were given a pk and they put it away to go into halftime with the Apaches up just 2-1.

The second half remained scoreless until Madi Lutz finished with an amazing header to the back of the net off an Isabelle Davis assist. With just minutes remaining, the Lady Apaches continued to apply offensive pressure and Libby Mattern had an incredible finish to the back of the net off a Gunderman assist. Kiana Jones also added shots to keep the offensive pressure on. Goalkeeper Hannah Layne had 6 saves on the night and again Wabash was strong defensively with Morgan Mallow, Kalista Ballshmidt, Jones, Kiersten O’Neill leading the way with help from Abbie Boggs, Gunderman and Yoakum. Sabine Thomas, Ashley Province and Mattern played strong outside mid minutes for the Apaches.
