Wabash 8th Volleyball Moves On
The Wabash junior high volleyball teams split a pair of matches with Peru in the opening round of the RRC tourney Tuesday.
The 7th grade fell to Peru 20-25, 17-25
Amaya Sellers had a team high 5 Service Points, and had a Service Reception and a Dig.
Bryleigh Boggs had a team high 4 Aces, a team high 5 Kills, and perfect passing for the night, going 5 for 5 on Service Receptions, 7 for 7 on Digs, including a total of 7 Target Passes.
Haylee Friend had 3 Service Points, including an Ace, a Service Reception, and 2 Digs.
Mya Whitaker had 2 Service Points, and a team high 4 Assists, a Kill, 7 Service Receptions and 4 Digs, including a total of 6 Target Passes.
Olivia Burns had 2 Service Points, including an Ace, 2 Assists, 7 Service Receptions, and 3 Digs, including 8 Target Passes.
Elli Hall had 2 Service Points, including an Ace.
Kendall France had a team high 12 Service Receptions, and a Dig, including 6 Target Passes.
Brianna Brooks had a Kill, was 5 for 5 on Service Receptions, and had 5 Digs, including 4 Target Passes.
Olivia Shepler had an Assist, and 6 Digs.
Addison Bakehorn had a Dig.
Karlee Bearman had a Service Reception.
The 8th grade defeated Peru 25-10, 25-11
Top servers for the night included Sam Powell (11), Jillian Sailors (10), and Janika Stumbo (10). The Wabash 8th Grade Volleyball team established a consistent presence at the net with six players contributing a combined total of 11 kills. Hitters for the Lady Apaches were Sammie Walters (3 kills and 1 stuffed block), Ella Vander Velden (3 kills), Maddie White (2 kills), Shaylee Jacobs (1 kill), Jillian Sailors (1 kill), and Janika Stumbo (1 kill). Contributing to Wabash’s offense for the night was Sam Powell (8 assists), Jillian Sailors (1 assist), and Shaylee Jacobs (1 assist). Key passers for the night included Ella Hartley, Gretta France, and Jillian Sailors.
The team looks forward to their next match against Maconaquah at 5:30pm on 10/8/20.
