The Manchester wrestling team fell to Peru 27-42 Tuesday.
The Manchester Squires Wrestling team battled hard through adversity in the home opener before falling short against Peru with forfeits in the final 2 matches of the night. After the teams traded forfeits to begin the dual, Freshman Colten Nelson scored a late takedown and nearfall to decide a close match over his sophomore opponent from Peru. The Squires picked up a pin from Junior standout Dylan Stroud at 138, but then the Tigers won several competitive matches in the middle weights to jump out to a 30-15 lead. The Duffy brothers, Trescott and Preston, wrestled with confidence and pinned their opponents to make the score 30-27 with 2 matches to go before a couple Squire forfeits sealed the win for Peru. Overall the Squires made some improvements from a close loss on Friday night, and the team will look to work hard and get healthy in the coming weeks before returning to the mat.
