The Northfield boys basketball team traveled to Tippecanoe Valley Friday, defeating the Vikings in overtime 60-56.
With 26 seconds to go and Valley up by three in the fourth quarter; Eli Kroh pressured Valley into fumbling the ball out of bounds and the Norse had their chance in the see-saw affair. The Norse then held the ball for around 15 seconds before Clayton Tomlinson came off a screen to bury a three and when the Norse defense held strong with the game headed to overtime.
On the first possession of OT, Kaleb Krom buried a 12 foot jump shot and the Norse never relinquished the lead.
Leading the way for the Norse was sophomore Dillon Tomlinson who scored 24 including 5 three pointers as the Norse buried 10-20 from behind the arc. Clayton Tomlinson finished with 21points, 5 steals and 4 blocked shots. Jayden Peas fought through an injury to score 6 points and add a game high 8 rebounds. Kaleb Krom scored 4 points. Trent Osborn who had a key steal in the first half when the Norse had fallen behind by 7, scored 3 points. Alex Haupert played key defense and added 2 points.
The Norse are now 3-5 and are 2-1 in the TRC. The Norse are back in action at home on Saturday night against the Argylls of Madison Grant.
