Fourth Inning Eruption Lifts Knights Past Churubusco

The Southwood baseball team erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning to defeat Churubusco 11-1 Friday.

The Knights found themselves down 1-0 entering their half of the 4th inning. They promptly had a 9 run inning, and took the lead for good. They would end the game with another 2 in the 6th, to defeat the Eagles of Churubusco by 10 run rule.

Offensive leaders for the Knights included:
Mason Yentes 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored
Logan Barley 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI
Alex Farr 2 for 4 with a home run, one run scored and one RBI
Mo Lloyd 2 for 3 with a grand slam home run, two runs scored and 5 RBIs
Connor Rich, Tristin Hayslett, and Cole Winer all added hits

On the mound, Koby Thomas started the game and pitched very well. He went 5 1/3 innings allowing 1 run (earned) on two hits. He walked 6 and struck out 1
Alex Farr came in for relief and pitched the last 2/3 of an inning. He didn’t allow a run or a hit. He walked one and struck out one.

The Knights will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Peru for a conference matchup at 6pm.
