Four hits from Mo Lloyd helped lead Southwood past Whitko 28-3 on Monday. Lloyd doubled in the second, singled in the third, hit a grand slam in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth.
Whitko scored three runs in the first inning, but Southwood Knights Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. Whitko scored its runs on a double by Rider.
Southwood Knights Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Connor Rich singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Southwood Knights Varsity pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second Mason Yentes doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring three runs, Alex Farr singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Lloyd doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Harper induced Tristin Hayslett to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Southwood Knights Varsity put up eight runs in the fifth inning. Southwood Knights Varsity big bats were led by Farr, Joey Bland, Nathan Lehner, and Yentes, who all drove in runs.
Carson Rich got the win for Southwood Knights Varsity. The southpaw allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Harper took the loss for Whitko. The hurler surrendered 12 runs on nine hits over two and a third innings.
Southwood Knights Varsity smacked three home runs on the day. Lloyd had a long ball in the fourth inning. Koby Thomas had a four bagger in the third inning. Farr went for the long ball in the fifth inning.
