Lady Apaches Fall In Season Opener

The Wabash Lady Apaches soccer team finally had their season opener Saturday in a tough 13-1 loss against Mississinewa.

The Apaches put a fantastic defensive effort, especially senior Kalista Ballshmidt in the center. Sophomore Talia Carrillo and senior Ashley Province worked outside defensively, both playing their first game at those positions. Goalkeeping today for the Apaches were senior Linda Cordes with 6 saves and sophomore Kiana Jones with 9.

Junior Rylee Yoakum played big for Wabash, with great distribution and attacking their defense. Yoakum earned herself the lone Apache goal with a beautiful penalty kick. Apache shots on goal by Cordes, Junior Libby Mattern, Yoakum, sophomore Natalie Adams and Junior Mar Perez. Final score 13-1 Mississinewa.

The Lady Apaches move into conference play on Tuesday at 7pm at Alumni Field against Manchester.
