Wabash Soccer Loses Tough Battle
The Wabash Boys Soccer Team lost a hard-fought 2-1 game to Oak Hill on Senior Night Tuesday.
Oak Hill had the lion’s share of the possession, but the Wabash counterattack proved to be a potent threat throughout the game. One of those counterattacks proved effective in the first half when Sol France hit Andrew Dinkins with a crisp back pass that led to a Dinkins chip over the keeper for the first goal of the game.
Oak Hill responded with a goal of their own to even the score before halftime. Greyson DeBoard had an impressive night in goal en route to 10 saves. The Wabash defense again worked well as they denied Oak Hill many quality looks at goal. Spencer Stout had a goalline stop to keep the Apaches in the game.
In the second half, Oak Hill broke the deadlock with about 24 minutes to go. Wabash continued to look for breakthroughs but were unable to find the equalizer before time expired. Sol France ended the game with three shots and an assist.
Wabash returns to action Saturday when they travel to Eastern for a 1 pm match.
