The Wabash Boys tournament run came to an end as the Apaches lost in a rematch with Carroll 4-1.

Wabash got on the scoreboard first when Troy Guenin-Hodson drove down the left sideline on a counter attack and finished with a shot past the charging goalkeeper. Carroll continued to threaten in the first half with long throw-in and corner kicks that challenged the Wabash backline. Eventually, Carroll took advantage of a Wabash mistake and got the equalizer midway through the first half. Wabash’s possession play was hindered by the rain but they managed to put Carroll on their heels as the half ended.

The second half was tightly contested. Both teams upped the tempo and players were battling across the midfield to win possession and create chances. The deadlock was broken when a Wabash player misplayed a ball on a corner kick resulting in an own goal and a Carroll lead with 20 minutes to go. Carroll capitalized on another set piece to to knock a loose ball into the goal to get a 3-1 lead late in the game. Sol France and Jacob France each had scoring chances as the clock was winding down, but the Carroll keeper made tremendous saves to deny the scoring chances. Carroll scored their fourth goal of the night late in the game on a bouncing ball that Wabash defenders failed to clear. Greyson DeBoard recorded 12 saves.

Wabash ends the season 10-5-1 and as Sectional Champions. Wabash will return 9 starters in 2021. We’re looking forward to another great season.
