Lady Norse ”Wrestlers” Compete At New Palestine

Indiana Girls High School Wrestling is on the rise. This Saturday, all four Northfield’s women wrestlers traveled to New Palestine High School to compete in an all-women Invitational.

The invitational hosted 131 young women from all over the state. For the first time in the school’s history, Northfield was represented by freshmen Ella Gahl, sophomore Alexis Gates, and juniors Asia Miller and Addie France in an all girl’s tournament.

Ella Gahl placed 3rd overall in the 120lbs weight class with a record of 4-1. Ella’s bracket was packed with over 20 extremely tough competitors, and Ella’s only loss came at the hands of the #3 ranked girl in the state. Gahl redeemed herself by pinning the #5 ranked girl in the first period of the finals. Asia Miller went 2-3 for the day in 132lbs weight class, scoring her first wrestling victory and winning by pin in her second match. Alexis Gates also scored her first wrestling pin in the 145lbs weight class finishing 1-3 for the day. Addie France competed in one of the most challenging weight classes, 160lbs, going 0-3.
