Squire Wrestlers 9th At Garrett
The Manchester wrestling team finished 9th at the Garrett Invite Saturday.
Individual Placers:
145 Isaiah Burlingame (11-8) placed 6th and scored 11.0 team points.
152 Jordan Ayres (8-3) placed 5th and scored 14.0 team points.
170 Zach France (24-3) placed 3rd and scored 19.0 team points.
182 Tyler Acosta (6-6) placed 6th and scored 13.0 team points.
195 Trevor Dill (17-9) placed 4th and scored 13.0 team points.
220 Preston Duffy (6-4) placed 3rd and scored 19.0 team points.
The Garrett Invitational was a competitive tournament that will serve as good preparation for the upcoming state tournament series. Three Sophomores placed for the Squires with Isaiah Burlingame and Tyler Acosta getting 6th place by going 3-2, and Preston Duffy registering 3 Falls to get 3rd place at 220. Junior Zach France went 3-1 with 2 Falls to get 3rd, and Jordan Ayres went 4-1 to get 5th place with his only loss a controversial 12-10 loss by decision in the Quarterfinals. The lone Senior in the lineup Trevor Dill finished in 4th place for the Squires. Manchester had a competitive showing at a tough tournament with a few key starters out that would have changed the team score considerably. The Squires wrestlers will look to improve from this result heading into the Three Rivers Conference Tournament Saturday at Maconaquah.
