With a lightning delayed start, the boys soccer team came to play in the first TRC match of the season. Wabash is coming off a great season last year as they finished the 2021/2022 season as CO-TRC and Sectional Champs. Last year when the teams met, Wabash eeked out a 1-0 win in OT. In Saturday’s match though, Maconaquah was able to finish shots and hold Wabash scoreless to take a 3-0 win.

Bennett Isenburg got the scoring started after Jackson Jones headed a throw in from Kyler Hanson to Isenburg, who buried it home. The 2nd goal came from a quick counter attack with Isenburg and Isaac Lorenz. Isenburg drew the defense and played the ball to Lorenz who beat the defenders, but was fouled in the penalty box. Lorenz beat the goalie on the PK shot to take the 2-0 lead. The third goal came from an Ethan Zeiser assist to Jackson Jones, who put a great left foot shot into the corner.

The Braves are now 3-0 on the season and have yet to give up a goal. The next match will be on Tuesday vs North Miami at home.
