Lady Apaches Soccer Blanks Giants
The Wabash Lady Apaches won their first non-conference game of the season with a 5-0 win over the Marion Giants.
Senior goalkeeper Hannah Layne came away with a clean sheet and her first shutout of the season with great defensive play from senior Abby Boggs, sophomore Macy VonUhl, senior Libby Mattern and freshman Jaycee Jones, with very productive defensive minutes from junior Talia Carrillo and freshman Andi Stout. Sophomore Kait Honeycutt and junior Kiana Jones did a great job controling the center of the field with sophomore Abby Hipskind, sophomore Emma Weaver, junior Maddie VonUhl and junior Piper Althouse helping alongside in the midfield.
Offensively Wabash was lead once again by senior Rylee Yoakum with a hat-trick for the game with assissts from Mattern, Honeycutt and K. Jones. Junior Irma Robles putt away a beautiful goal from a Yoakum assisst and K. Jones burried her penalty kick attempt after junior Natalie Adams drew one in the box. Shots on goal tonight by Yoakum, Adams, Robles, K. Jones, Mattern and sophomore Gracie Napier. The Lady Apaches move to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in the TRC. Wabash plays again on Thursday, where they pick back up in TRC action at North Miami.
