Results from Peru for Tuesday, September 6th

The Tigers dropped their first match of the season Wednesday night to Culver Academy. Culver Academy swept the Tigers 5-0.

Gavin Eldridge played valiantly for the Tigers at #3 singles in a 4-6, 4-6 loss.

The #2 doubles duo of Jayleb Walsh and Jacob Walsh competed well but lost 4-6, 3-6.

Peru’s Ian Potts and Ben Beckman both posted 0-6, 1-6 scores at #1 and #2 singles respectively while the #1 doubles team of Jackson Boswell and Lucas Slagel lost 2-6, 1-6.

The Tigers competed Wednesday against Maconaquah and Logansport at Rock Hollow. Peru finished third with a score of 239 behind Mac at 182 and Logansport with 189. Kara Baker led the Tigers with 44, followed by Madi Nero with 61, Lainey Wouster with 65, Raina Nero with 69, and Brooklyn Weller with 70. Due to time constraints, the other players were only able to complete six holes before the end of the match. Six hole scores for the Tigers were Kelsey Guyer with 46, Annie Dolly with 47, Tessa Holland with 48, and Bailee Beattie and Maddie Caldwell with 49 each.

It was also Senior Night for Peru and the last home match for Kara Baker, Madi Nero, and Brooklyn Weller. All three girls have been great teammates and leaders and their contributions to help build the program are truly appreciated.

The Tigers will compete for a TRC championship on Saturday at Rozella Ford Golf Course in Warsaw. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Tigers continued their undefeated run and solidified their grasp on another TRC title with a decisive 5-0 victory over Whitko on Tuesday.

Peru’s Ian Potts posted a 6-0, 6-2 score to take the #1 singles spot, and Ben Beckman won #2 singles with a 6-0, 6-4 score. Gavin Eldridge completed yet another singles sweeps for the Tigers with a three set win 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Lucas Slagel and Jackson Boswell held the #1 doubles spot with a 6-2, 6-0 score while the #2 doubles duo Jacob Boswell and Jayleb Walsh won convincingly 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers are next in action on Wednesday at Thrush Courts against Culver Academy.

JV volleyball took the loss in 2 sets tonight against the Wildcats 14-25, 4-25. Freshmen Kyla Newpert and Kaelyn Edwards each had 2 kills on the night to help the Tigers.

Varsity also took the loss in 3 sets 14-25, 21-25, 16-25. The Lady Tigers competed against the Wildcats and showed drive and hustle all night, but came up short. Senior Caitlyn Miller led the team with 10 kills and a stuffed block. Senior Jayma Majors had 4 solo blocks, 2 kills, and 8 assists on the night. Lady Tigers will be on the road for the next couple of weeks starting Thursday at Taylor with JV starting at 6 :00pm.
