Varsity Lady Eagles struggled today at the 4 game round robin at Northwestern. In the first game they lost to Northwestern in 2 sets. Then they lost to Tri Central in 3 sets, but ended the day with a win over Delphi in 2 sets. Their overall record is now 10-7.

JV Lady Eagles went 2-0 on the day beating Northwestern in 2 sets and Delphi in 2 sets. Their overall record is now 8-4.

Next match is Tuesday at home against Madison Grant.

The Lady Eagles battled the Eastbrook Panthers and the Eagles were able to pull out the victory. The Lady Eagles posted 3 of the top 5 scores which allowed them to win by 12 strokes. The Lady Eagles are back in action Tuesday Vs Elwood.

The OHXC Golden Eagles broke things up Saturday at the Wildcat Classic held at IWU running their Top 2 athletes Juniors Owen Jackson and Trenton Sweet in the 26 Team Elite Red Division and the rest of the squad in 27 Team Grey Division. Jackson, running in his first race since last April, and Sweet took advantage of running earlier in the day when temps were cooler. Jackson took the lead and led for over half the event before cramping up ultimately falling back to 30th but still eanring a Top 35 Medal in a strong field. Sweet continued to move up through out the race dropping a new personal best 16:21 to finish 6th overall. Sweet’s time was the 14th fastest in program history moving him past current college athletes Sol O’Blenis and Tahj Johnson who both set personal bests of 16:22 in high school.

Junior Toby Sneed led three Golden Eagle Top 35 Medalist in the Grey Division race grabbing a Top 10 spot in 7th. Freshman Corban Tippey and Junior AJ Austin took 20th and 22nd respectively to also earn hardware. The Golden Eagles as a team still managed to finish 3rd overall in the huge field running in very hot temps despite not having Sweet or Jackson. Freshmen Brayden Sommers 59th and Jordan Denham 62nd rounded out the Top 5 Varsity scorers.

The Golden Eagles compete again next Saturday September 17th in the West Noble Invitational.

The OHXC Lady Eagles finished a strong 3rd in Saturday’s 25 Team Grey Division at the Wildcat Classic held at IWU. For the 2nd time in three weeks the Lady Eagles fell to two very talented teams in Faith Christian and Heritage Christian who went 1-2.

Freshman Biruk Travis ran a gutsy race on a hot day leading almost every step of the first 4,000 meters but ultimately took Runner Up honors with a solid time of 20:34. Still a great finish in a big meet for the Lady Eagle Freshman. Sophomore Audrey Woodard and Junior Leah Highley also had strong days as they were also Top 35 Medalist finishing 19th and 20th respectively. Travis’ classmate Sophia Rowland just missed a Top 35 Medal finishing 36th overall. Sophomore Abby Sneed was the 5th varsity scoring finisher for the Lady Eagles taking 47th.

The Lady Eagles are off this week and compete again in the Grant 4 Championship Tuesday September 20th where they will be attempting to win their 10th consecutive Grant 4 Title.
