Results from Maconaquah for Tuesday, September 13th

The Lady Braves golf team finished their regular season schedule with an impressive win in a four way meet at Peru Municipal Golf Course. Maconaquah lead the way with a 175. This was enough to defeat Wabash (214), North Miami (224) and Southwood (237). Sophomore Daisy Williams was match medalist with a two over par 39. Daisy played the course how she’s played every course this year; Hitting fairways and greens and making clutch putts when needed. Junior Miranda Stoll was second overall with a 42. Miranda, in preparation for sectionals, continued to make smart choices with each shot. This included hitting a hybrid off the second hole and not risking the ball going over the back of the green. Senior Courtney Stoll had a bit of trouble with the greens, but hit the ball well enough to still shot 46. Sophomore Finley Dobbs also had a bit of trouble on and around the greens, but the improvement in her long green carried her to a 48. Senior Lehna Wagner got off to a good start, had some trouble in the middle of her round, then closed with four straight 5s en route to shooting a 52.

The Lady Braves Junior Varsity had an impressive night as well. Freshman Maya Wagner fired her career low with a 57 that was good enough to be the low score amoun all the JV players Tuesday evening. Juniors Kathryn Rodkey and Haley Washburn were right behind Maya with a pair of 59s. Kathryn would have had a much better score, but she hit a tee shot towards the wrong green, but was able to bounce back and break 60. Haley Washburn took advantage of straight driving and solid iron play to also break 60. Junior Sydney Barnes just missed breaking 60 as she had a bit of trouble on the greens. Her long game was good, she just could not get any putts to fall. Freshman Jade Christopher ended the night with a 74. She hit the ball well, but struggled getting on the elevated greens. It should be noted that the JV score of 235 did beat the Southwood varsity score by 2.

The Lady Braves have two days off before teeing off in the Western Sections on Friday, September 16th. The Lady Braves are seeking a third trip to regionals and their first ever sectional title.

As always, the Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, family, and friends that come out each match.
