Results from Oak Hill for Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st

The offense racked up 409 total yards of offense. The ground game tallied 349 of those 409 yards. Kyle Turanchick lead the team with 241 yards and 5 touchdowns on 16 carries. Avery Mills scored a touchdown and totaled 52 yards on just 6 carries. Will Warnock also scored a rushing touchdown on 8 attempts with 49 yards. Lance Wyrick totaled 4 yards on 1 attempt and Sylis Brown ran for 3 yards on 2 attempts.

Levi Trexler was 5-5 on passing attempts tonight for 60 yards and a touchdown. Lucas Hasty caught 4 of the 5 passes including a 19 yard touchdown. Hasty had a total of 44 yards. Will Warnock caught one pass for 16 yards.

The defense won the turnover battle again tonight with one interception by Thomas Nally.

The Elzinga brothers shared kicking duties tonight. Grant Elzinga was 1 for 1 on extra points while Drew went 6-7 on extra points.

Oak Hill travels to Blackford next week.

The Eagles played an outstanding match today for their last home game and senior day celebrations with a 4-0 win against visiting Jay County. Matthew Strange started off the scoring with the first goal of the game. Bryce Gibson then closed the first half out scoring a goal assisted by Grant Elzinga. To start out the second half, Jose Morales scored for the third goal of the game assisted by Caleb Kroll. Our last goal was scored by Grant Elzinga assisted by Bryce Gibson to close out the win.

The OHXC Golden Eagles used a 1-2-3 finish from Juniors Owen Jackson, Trenton Sweet, and Toby Sneed to score 25 points and win their 7th straight Central Indiana Conference Championship at IWU Saturday. It was the Golden Eagle’s 18th Conference Title the last 21 seasons and marked the 21st straight season that an OHXC team won a Conference Title. Eastbrook was 2nd with 80 points while Madison Grant was 3rd.

Jackson was the individual champion for the 2nd straight season cruising to a time of 16:22. Sweet was not too far behind in 2nd at 16:29. It was the 2nd time as 1st Team All Conference performers for both. Sneed set a new personal best of 17:00 to finish 3rd and earn his 1st – 1st Team Selection. Jackson’s indvidual title marked the 11th straight season an OHXC athlete has won the CIC Meet.

In all six Golden Eagle athletes earned All CIC Honors. Freshman Corban Tippey also grabbed a 1st Team spot with an 8th place finish while Junior AJ Austin 11th and Sophomore Owen Roth 20th earned Honorable Mention Honors. Freshman Jordan Denham rounded out the Varsity Top 7 just missing All CIC Honors by 1 spot in 21st.

The OHXC Lady Eagles battled a very talented Eastbrook team again Saturday in the Central Indiana Conference Championship at IWU ultimately falling just 8 points shy of their 10th staight CIC Title. Eastbrook won with 37 points while the Lady Eagles still competing without their number 2 athlete Senior Ashlyn Webb totaled 45. Blackford was 3rd with 61. While one streak unfortuantely ended the 2nd place finish for the ladies marked the 15th straight season in which they were either 1st or 2nd in the CIC.

Freshman Lady Eagle Biruk Travis once again ran a great race setting a new personal best of 19:38 to take individual honors. Joining Travis on the 1st Team All CIC Team was Junior Leah Highley who ran a season best 21:20 to finish 4th. It was the 3rd straight year Highley earned 1st Team Honors. Travis’ win marked the 11th straight year that at least a male or female OHXC athlete won an individual CIC title.

In all six Lady Eagles earned All Conference Honors on the day. Sophomore Audrey Woodard 12th, Freshman Sophia Rowland 13th, Senior Emma Bledsoe, and Sophomore Abby Sneed 16th all earned Honorable Mention All CIC Honors. Freshman Lydia Trexler rounded out the Varsity Top 7 dropping almost 2 minutes off her personal best and just missing All CIC Honors by 1 spot finishing 21st.

The Lady Eagles compete in the IHSAA Marion Sectional next Saturday October 8th right back at IWU. The ladies will be attempting to advance to the IHSAA Regional for the 15th straight year.
