Results from Tippecanoe Valley for Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st

The Death Valley Football team defeated the Maconaquah Braves 57-14 tonight to remain undefeated.

The first score of the game came only 23 seconds in as Alex Bailey scooped up a blocked punt for the score. Nate Parker converted the 2pt to make it 7-0 in the first minute of the game. Two minutes later Cody Eastgate completed a touchdown pass to Landon Durkes for 54 yards to make 14-0. Another two minutes later, Nate Parker rushed for a 14 yard touchdown and then followed up with the 2pt conversion to make it 22-0. Maconaquah was able to score with 7:10 to go in the 1st to make it 22-7. Nate Parker found the endzone with three minutes left in the first followed by the extra point from Gage Overby.

The second quarter saw the Vikings pick up two more touchdowns. Dalton Alber scored on a 20 yard run followed by an Overby extra point. Nate Parker once again scored on a 6 yard run with an Overby extra point to make it 43-7 at halftime.

The third quarter saw two more Valley scores as Nate Parker scored a fourth time on a 3 yard run followed by an Overby extra point. Wade Jones then ran it in from 15 yards to make the score 57-7 after the Overby extra point.

The lone score in the fourth quarter was a Maconaquah 10 yard pass and extra points to make the final score 57-14.

The Wrecking Crew Defense was strong up front as they held the Braves to -1 yards rushing. The secondary had a tough night but held the Braves to 226 passing yards and allowed 24 completions on 38 attempts. Noah Prater and Nate Engstrand both had picks for the Vikings. Wade Jones led the defense with 5 solo tackles.

The win makes Valley 7-0 (6-0) the lone wolf at the top of the TRC as they remain undefeated. The Vikings will play host once again next week as Wabash comes to Death Valley on Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.

The Lady Vikings played solidly with the best half of soccer all season by holding Elkhart Christian Academy to a 0-0 tie through the first half of play. Neither team could grab an advantage although ECA outshot Valley the entire match.

The second half found ECA lighting up the net with five goals and the Lady Vikings fell 5-0.

It was the final regular season match for seniors Jessica Brito and Makena Smith, who both played all 80 minutes.

Essie Ward was in goal and had 19 saves against 5 goals allowed.
