Manchester Boys Varsity Soccer posted a strong win against Tippecanoe Valley, prevailing by a score of 6-0 to advance to the sectional final at Wabash.

The Squires got their first goal with 10 minutes remaining in the first half when Michael Ortiz sent a long pass to the right corner where Tyler McLain collected it along the endline before sending a pass back across the field to the back post where Ortiz controlled the ball and put it into the back of the net.

Manchester took it’s 1-0 lead into halftime, but in the second half broke the game open with 5 more goals. Just 7 minutes into the second half, Nathaniel Miller was taken down just outside the box. Miller lined up the free kick and drilled it into the right corner of the goal. Just a few minutes later, Ortiz was taken down in the box from behind. Ortiz took the PK, but was unable to convert it into a goal and the Squires remained up 2-0.

Two more goals came in the middle of the half — one by Tyler McLain, assisted by Liam York, and the other by Miller, assisted by Wyatt Young. As the clock wound down, the Squires scored their fifth and sixth goals, when Roberto Iaione assisted on a second goal of the evening by Ortiz, and McLain assisted on Miller’s third goal of the game.

Meanwhile, the Squires back line played a solid defensive game, with good help from midfielders Riley Shock, Diego Munoz and Jose Hernandez.

Six yellow cards were issued in the game — three for each team.

Manchester will face Culver Academies in the sectional final on Saturday evening.
