Knights Take Down Valley

The Southwood Knights took down undefeated Tippecanoe Valley 28-26 Friday to clinch a share of the TRC with Valley and Rochester.

After a scoreless first quarter Valley would score from 4yds and 10yds out to grab a 12-0 lead. Needing a score desperately before the half the Knights would drive down the field when Cole Winer found brother Will from 5yds away to make it 12-6 at the half.

Southwood would make their move in the third. Winer would connect with Isaiah Sutton from 4yds out, then find Sutton racing down the siddeline on a 52yd connection to give the Knights a 21-12 lead. Valley would score before the end of the quarter to make it 21-19.

The Knights would waste no time in the fourth when Winer found a racing Mo Lloyd for a 73yd scoring strike and a 28-19 lead. With 5:45 left in the game Valley would strike to make it 28-28, then hold the Southwood offense to force a punt. With just over 3:00 left in the game the Vikings march the field with the Knights defense bending but not breaking. With 14.6 left on the clock Valley would attempt a game winning field goal that was ”WIDE LEFT” to seal the deal for Southwood.
