Results from Tippecanoe Valley for Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th

The Death Valley Football team fell to Southwood tonight 26-28. Valley still clinched the TRC Championship but will share the title with Southwood and Rochester.

After a scoreless first quarter, Valley scored early in the second off of a Nate Parker run. The Vikings followed it up on their next drive with a 10 yard run from Parker to make it 12-0. Southwood drove down the field quickly at the end of the first half and scored with 19 seconds left to make the score 12-6 at halftime.

Southwood would put up 15 points in the third quarter and held a 12-21 lead before Nate Parker found the endzone again at the end of the 3rd to make it 19-21. The Knights quickly answered back, scoring their final touchdown in the first 15 seconds of the 4th, giving them a 19-28 lead. With 5:45 to go in the game, Nate Parker found his way into the endzone a fourth time to put the Vikings within two points. The game came down to the final seconds as Valley looked to get the win off of a field goal but was just a tad to the left, giving Southwood the 26-28 victory.

The Vikings put up 325 total yards with 288 on the ground and 37 through the air. Nate Parker rushed for 240 yards and had 22 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Dalton Alber rushed for 23 yards.

The Wrecking Crew defense was solid up front, only allowing 74 rushing yards. Landon Durkes was able to get a pick as the Knights passing game put up a tough test for the Vikings.

The Vikings become TRC Champions for the second year in a row, however they will share the title with Southwood and Rochester. Valley will be on the road next week as they travel to Peru for the first round of the IHSAA Sectionals. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
