Lady Squires Edged At Maconaquah

The Manchester Lady Squires fell at Maconaquah 49-45 Saturday.

The Lady Squires got off to a great start leading the Lady Braves 18-11 after the first quarter. Maconaquah charged back with some transition points and offensive rebounds in the second quarter and took the one point lead at the half 31-30.

The second half was back and forth and came down to the wire. The Lady Squires missed some vital free throws that gave Maconaquah the 4 point victory 49-45.

Brookelynn Buzzard and Kim Schroll both hit double figures with 13 and 12 points. Other scorers included Molly Schannep with 6, Hadley West and Gracie Lauer with 5 each, and Aliala Atienza and Peyton Ream with 2 a piece. Kim Schroll led in the rebounding category with 7, followed by Brookelynn Buzzard with 6, and Molly Schannep with 5. Hadley West and Moly Schannep led in assists with 2 each and Brookelynn Buzzard led in steals with 3.

The ladies will play their first home game on Tuesday against Adam Central.
