Lady Apaches Suffer First Loss

The Wabash Lady Apaches fell for the first time this year in a back and forth contest against Lapel 56-47 Tuesday.

Wabash trailed 17-9 after a quarter but used a big second quarter to grab a 29-25 lead at half. The Lady Apaches struggled in the 3rd quarter and fell behind 41-33 heading to the fourth. Wabash would make a run and cut the lead to 5 with just over a minute to play but could get no closer as they fell 56-47.

Wabash, now 3-1, was led by Kait Honeycutt with 16 points while Libby Mattern and Kierra Wilson chipped in 14 each. Wilson also pulled down 9 rebounds to pace the Lady Apaches while Rylee Yoakum dished out 3 assists and had 3 steals.

Wabash will travel to Pioneer next Tuesday in a match up of Sectional foes.

The JV Lady Apaches got down early and couldn’t recover as they fell 39-29 to Lapel. Wabash, now 2-1, scored just 9 points through the first 3 quarters but rallied to put 20 on the scoreboard in the 4th.

The Lady Apaches were led by Bryleigh Boggs with 11 points and 8 steals, while Kenley McWhirt 6 points and 5 rebounds.
