Lady Apaches Hold Off Bluffton in OT

The Wabash Lady Apaches needed overtime to come away with a 62-60 win over Bluffton on Tuesday.

In a back and forth affair Wabash led 28-24 at the half but the fell behind 40-37 after three and got behind 48-41 early in the fourth. The Lady Apaches fought back to tie the game 54-54 at the end of regulation and then with the game tied 60-60 in OT the Lady Apaches got a steal and were fouled with 1.9 seconds to go. Kait Honeycutt hit two of three free-throws to seal the win 62-60.

Wabash, now 5-4 on the season, was paced by Kierra Wilson with 16 points while Kait Honeycutt and Libby Mattern added 15 and 12. Jade Stumbo pulled down 6 rebounds while Honeycutt dished out 4 assists and grabbed 7 steals to lead the Lady Apaches.

Wabash will return to action on Saturday when the travel to Rochester for a TRC clash with the Lady Zebras.

The Lady Apache JV and Bluffton played a low scoring tight affair at Coolman on Tuesday night. Wabash held a 11-9 halftime lead but Bluffton used a big third quarter to jump out to a 18-12 lead. The Lady Apaches shut out the visitors in the fourth but came up one point short in the 18-17 loss. Wabash, now 4-4 on the season got scoring from Kiana Jones 5, Bryleigh Boggs 4, Bella Vail 3, Janika Stumbo 2, Sammie Walter 2 & Kenley McWhirt 1.
